LARA STONE Words by Hilary Bourke There are a million reasons that make Lara Stone unforgettable. Potently individual and a cultural sensation, her commanding arrival marked a powerful shift towards a more diverse, all-encompassing, celebration of the female form and the world was never the same again. Ever since that fateful casting by Ricardo Tisci, she’s gone on to reach icon status, keeping her feet firmly on the ground in the process. An enviable amount of self-assurance, only enhanced with age, is the essence of her enduring appeal and 13 years on we still can’t get enough. As i-D put it in 2015, Lara could “turn gay men straight and straight girls gay” and if that’s not power we don’t know what is. With that in mind, here she is, unadulterated and raw. In her own single minded and eccentric way. This is a woman photographing a woman, both whom have pursued a more honest approach to what a woman in this industry is. As such both these women represent a symbiotic and timeless story for all women, simple yet complicated, powerful and yet softly floating above it all.

“Beauty is truth’s smile when she beholds her own face in a perfect mirror.” — Rabindranath Tagore

Lara Stone is a LOVEWANT girl because she has always represented something deeper than beauty. Lara is the idea that the most compelling people are those who remain unapologetically themselves.

In an industry obsessed with perfection, Lara's allure is still built on individuality. The gap in her teeth became a symbol of authenticity, not something to conceal. She has always challenged the notion that beauty must be polished, and in do so proves instead that character is infinitely more captivating than flawlessness.

Lara has a presence, one that says she has never seemed interested in performing an ideal version of herself for approval. Instead, she carries a true confidence rooted in self-acceptance. Her power comes from possessing an undeniable sense of self.

A LOVEWANT woman understands that style is not about trends. It is about identity. Lara has always felt larger than fashion because she doesn't allow the clothes to define her. She remains memorable not because she follows the cultural moment, but because she transcends that moemt with her presence.

What makes her truly modern is her contradiction. She is sensual yet intellectual, vulnerable yet commanding, familiar yet mysterious. The most interesting people are rarely one thing, and Lara has never been easily categorised.

She reminds us that beauty is not perfection but rather distinction. In a world increasingly shaped by sameness, Lara Stone remains unforgettable, she never tried to become anyone else. That unwavering individuality is what makes her a LOVEWANT girl.
