DEJA CLARK WITH LOVEWANT BEAUTY and CHANEL ROUGE COCO HYDRA GLOSS – Interview Bartolomeo Celestino

Simone de Beauvoir noted that "One is not born, but rather becomes, oneself." And for a generation raised in public, becoming yourself is no small task. Every day, millions of people move between the private and the visible, shaping identities in real time while an audience watches from the other side of a screen. Yet what makes Deja Clark so compelling is that she seems largely uninterested in performing a version of herself. What people respond to is not a character but a personality: funny, candid, self-aware and unmistakably human. For LOVEWANT BEAUTY and CHANEL ROUGE COCO HYDRA GLOSS, Deja reflects on confidence, humour and the strange intimacy of growing up online. Whether she's speaking directly to her audience, sharing an insecurity, or making someone laugh after a difficult day, her approach remains remarkably consistent. The goal is not perfection. It is connection.

Throughout the conversation, Deja returns repeatedly to the value of authenticity. She trusts spontaneous conversation over scripts, personality over polish, and honesty over performance. It is a philosophy that has earned her a loyal audience who see themselves in her experiences and find comfort in her openness. At a time when so much online culture feels carefully engineered, Deja reminds us of something simpler: people are still drawn to people. Not because they are flawless, but because they are willing to be seen as they are.The internet has produced countless personalities, but very few people who genuinely feel like people. There is an immediacy to the way she communicates. No obvious distance between the person speaking and the person being watched. Her audience is not observing a carefully constructed character so much as being invited into an ongoing conversation. It is a quality that feels increasingly rare and perhaps explains why so many young people see themselves reflected in her. So whether she is filming a talking video from her bedroom, sharing a personal thought, or stepping in front of the camera for a beauty story, there is a sense of ease that follows her. Not because everything is effortless, but because she has learned that being yourself is often far more interesting than trying to be anyone else.
Bartolomeo Celestino
You both have such a strong sense of identity together and individually. How do you balance being seen as a duo while still expressing yourselves separately?
Deja Clark
Me and my sister have such a good relationship, we have the same humor, jokes and interests and even though we don’t live in the same country anymore we are still so close. But i think a way we express ourselves differently is we live such different lives. She lives in Australia has her own apartment and I live in LA with my parents and live my own life.
Bartolomeo Celestino
Growing up online, do you feel like the camera has become part of how your generation communicates?
Deja Clark
I definitely think the camera has become part of how our generation communicates, especially with everyone being online and almost everyone having phones. It’s definitely become a part apart everyday life.

What does confidence look like to each of you when things don’t feel polished or perfect?
Deja Clark
Confidence to me is a mindset so even if you don’t feel the best but you just think in your mind that I am confident I look great. I feel good then you will be confident like you could be wearing an outfit and not be confident in it and it instantly just makes the outfit not look good but if you wear it confidently then it will look good.
Bartolomeo Celestino
There’s a real energy and humour in the way you present yourselves. How important is personality in shaping your image online?
Deja Clark
I think personality is probably the most important way to portray yourself online like that’s what people love to see like authenticity and who really are.

Bartolomeo Celestino
Do you think people see the real versions of you, or just a curated layer?
Deja Clark
they definitely see the real version, i almost never have a script for my videos and just set the phone down and talk. When people come on my page they are seeing the real me because that’s what people love, i’m so lucky for have a fan base that loves me for me so i don’t have this pressure to try and pretend to be someone im not.
Bartolomeo Celestino
How do you each use your voice differently, whether through speaking, style, expression, or presence?
Deja Clark
I usually like to express myself through my talking videos. I like speaking directly to my supporters rather than just making lip syncing videos. Even though i do film those some times i love making people laugh through my content.
Bartolomeo Celestino
What do you hope people feel when they watch you or come across your content?
Deja Clark
when people see my content i want it to not only make them laugh but hopefully make there day better. i know whenever i see a funny video it makes me feel better so i hope when people see my content they feel that way. i also want them to feel seen and not alone like when i talk about my insecurities and personal problems i just want people to know that there not alone. 8. If you could describe your generation in one word or feeling, what would it be? interesting

Bartolomeo Celestino
Lips are such a subtle but powerful form of expression. A smile, silence, gloss, attitude. Do you think beauty changes how people interpret confidence?
Deja Clark
i think feeling good about how you look definitely helps with confidence. i know whenever i put on an outfit i love, wear my hair out and put makeup on i feel much more confident then how i would feel in a outfit im not loving, but i still feel confident even when im not in a full face of makeup and baggy clothes and i feel like thats something everyone guy should try and achieve because natural beauty is the best beauty.
Bartolomeo Celestino
When you wear something playful or glossy, does it affect how you move, perform, or express yourselves on camera?
Deja Clark
When i wear something playful or glossy i think its does affect the way i present myself. I think it makes me seem more confident on camera and i feel like i am able to express myself more.
